Overview
A gas upgrading package that removes specified contaminants from raw biogas to produce biomethane for an agreed pipeline or vehicle fuel outlet. Treatment is chosen from membrane, adsorption or other qualified OEM routes after gas analysis. The package includes off specification diversion and accountable methane recovery measurements.
Product capabilities
- Inlet separator
- blower or compressor
- H2S removal media or scrubber
- siloxane polishing where required
- dryer
- upgrading skid
Feedstock and input
Raw digester or landfill gas with measured methane, CO2, H2S, moisture, oxygen, nitrogen and trace contaminants.
Core components
- Inlet separator
- blower or compressor
- H2S removal media or scrubber
- siloxane polishing where required
- dryer
- upgrading skid
- gas chromatograph
- product compressor
- metering
- utility interface
- tail gas treatment
- flare
- shutdown valves and controls
Process
Condition raw gas; separate CO2 and contaminants; verify outlet composition; meter accepted gas; manage rejected gas.
Design basis
Obtain the receiving utility tariff and pressure specification. Confirm methane slip, turndown, media use, electricity and tail gas duty.
IoT measurements
Inlet and outlet gas composition, dew point, pressure and corrected flow; record off-spec diversion and methane loss.
IoT architecture
Local PLC/HMI, buffered historian and secure gateway; remote alarms and reports. Cloud loss does not stop local control. See common architecture and acceptance tests.
Future capability
Identify analyzer drift, separation losses and maintenance needs without bypassing gas quality interlocks.
Typical applications
U.S. gas utilities, landfill operators and agricultural RNG developers; global biomethane supply projects.
Pilot validation
Verify buyer gas specification, methane recovery, leaks, energy consumption and safe diversion under variable feed conditions.
Problem and deployment scope

- upgrading skid
Architecture
Confirm data sources, field interfaces and operating requirements during discovery. Integration compatibility is reviewed for each deployment.
Integrations
Interface availability and supported protocols require product-specific confirmation.
Deployment
Scope, installation, security, acceptance criteria and training are agreed with the project team.
Use cases
U.S. gas utilities, landfill operators and agricultural RNG developers; global biomethane supply projects.
