Overview
A hydrogen recovery package for a compatible hydrogen bearing gas stream. A qualified membrane or pressure swing adsorption system separates product hydrogen from other gases, with upstream cleanup as necessary. Conversion of biomass syngas into additional hydrogen requires a separately licensed water gas shift and conditioning section.
Product capabilities
- Feed separator and filters
- compressor
- optional contaminant cleanup
- optional shift reactor
- membrane or PSA skid
- product analyzer
Feedstock and input
Characterized hydrogen rich offgas or suitably treated syngas; confirm all contaminants and product purity requirements.
Core components
- Feed separator and filters
- compressor
- optional contaminant cleanup
- optional shift reactor
- membrane or PSA skid
- product analyzer
- buffer and metering
- tail gas recovery or disposal connection
- relief and isolation
- gas detection and PLC
Process
Characterize gas; remove interfering contaminants; separate hydrogen; verify product; manage tail gas.
Design basis
Determine purity versus recovery tradeoff, feed pressure, contaminant limits, tail gas energy and buyer specification.
IoT measurements
Syngas quality, PSA cycles, hydrogen purity and flow, pressure and tail-gas disposition.
IoT architecture
Local PLC/HMI, buffered historian and secure gateway; remote alarms and reports. Cloud loss does not stop local control. See common architecture and acceptance tests.
Future capability
Monitor adsorption or membrane performance and detect analyzer or cycle drift.
Typical applications
U.S. refineries, chemicals plants and renewable syngas developers; global industrial gas recovery duties.
Pilot validation
Verify recovery and purity under feed variability, full tail gas balance, containment and validated controls. Recovery alone does not establish low carbon status.
Problem and deployment scope
Hydrogen and power to fuels
How it works
- Feed separator and filters
- compressor
- optional contaminant cleanup
- optional shift reactor
- membrane or PSA skid
- product analyzer
Architecture
Confirm data sources, field interfaces and operating requirements during discovery. Integration compatibility is reviewed for each deployment.
Integrations
Interface availability and supported protocols require product-specific confirmation.
Deployment
Scope, installation, security, acceptance criteria and training are agreed with the project team.
Use cases
U.S. refineries, chemicals plants and renewable syngas developers; global industrial gas recovery duties.
